Francophones of the world, unite!
Politicians in Africa need more publications in French, and the EU needs Swiss scientists. We offer some snippets from science news.
Rémi Quirion, the Chief Scientist of Quebec, would like Francophone Africa to be able to gain access to good scientific information in its own language, as he explained in the online magazine Scidevnet. To this end, he has founded a network for scientists in French-speaking countries – to which Switzerland also belongs.
Lukas Mandl, an Austrian Member of the European Parliament, expressed regret in the Tages-Anzeiger newspaper about Switzerland’s non-association with Horizon Europe. Even without a framework agreement, he said, Switzerland belongs in Europe, and the Continent is in any case in danger of losing touch with cutting-edge research.
